More than 50 children with their parents and guardians celebrated Chinese New Year with volunteers from Xavier School Parents Auxiliary (XSPA), the Xavier Senior High School Student Council, and Property Company of Friends, Inc. (Profriends). The children, who have been diagnosed with blood-related diseases and benefit from the Kythe Foundation, enjoyed the group and booth games, dragon and lion dance, and food carts that were prepared for them.
“It felt like a full circle moment for me, as I was once a student of Xavier School and that the values of being Men for Others had always been embedded in our being. Joining Profriends as another organization that focuses on the betterment of the common man by Creating Communities and Transforming Lives – it felt extra meaningful.” shared Shannon King, Profriends’ Business Unit Head and an alumnus and now co-parent at Xavier School. “We had originally planned to do this back in 2024, and I am glad that XSPA had invited us to join once again this 2025,” he added.
Profriends donated food packs for everyone in attendance while employee volunteers also hosted the booth games and gave away art packs and stuffed toys for the kids. The Xavier community also handed groceries and supplies to the children and their guardians.
As the host talked about the good luck that the new year brought, one of the children raised his hand to share his wish, “Sana po gumaling na lahat kami.” Aside from giving the children fun and laughter, it is hoped that the time shared will provide for encouragement, knowing there are people who care and wish them well. “We should do this more often,” says Shannon, encouraging more colleagues to join future CSR events.
