KAPITBUHAY: More Than Just a Typical Neighborhood

Through the Profriends Overnight House Trial, participants were able to experience what it is like to live and interact with our Lancaster New City communities. From a very energetic Zumba to a community bazaar, they became part of one, big, welcoming family.

This is how Profriends creates its communities. More than just having “kapitbahays”, each development is purposively designed for families to have “KAPITBUHAYS.” Members of the neighborhood watch over each other, pursue common value aspirations, and organize community activities for bonding and relationship-building--- in short, they become extended family. They become part of one’s life.

Profriends’ value of CARE is also extended and practiced in its communities. Led by our On-Ground Partners, Inc. (OGPi), the communities are shaped to become values-oriented, making the community a safe and nurturing place for families.

Profriends Employees and Lancaster Residents Receive Free HPV Vaccine

In observation of International Women’s Month, Profriends and GalingLNC partnered with the local government of General Trias to conduct free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine administration. An orientation on cervical cancer was first held before participants were given a dose of the HPV vaccine. Nurse Mary Ann Bartolome of the City Health Office stressed the importance of being vaccinated against HPV: “Dahil kalimitan, walang sintomas at maraming tao ang maaaring mayroon nang HPV nang hindi natin nalalaman.” Nurse Mary Ann added, “Dahil dito, may posibilidad na maipasa ang virus sa ibang tao na hindi natin nalalaman.”

The Philippines has a population of 39.6 million women aged 15 years and older who are at risk of developing cervical cancer, according to the Human Papillomavirus and Related Cancers Fact Sheet 2023.

Desiree Paula Vibar, a resident of Lancaster New City, was very grateful for this activity: “Napakalaking tulong sa amin nito dahil sa totoo lang hindi naman lahat may financial capacity para makapagpa-inject ng ganito. Napaka-swerte ko rin dahil isa ako sa nabiyayaan.” An HPV vaccine usually costs around four thousand pesos and is a two-dose series. The 2nd dose is given six to twelve months after the first dose.

Flowers Abloom at Lancaster New City

The summer season not only brought in the warm breeze at PRO-FRIENDS’ flagship project, Lancaster New City, but also the chance to revel at the beautiful blooms surrounding the streetscapes in different parts of the township.

Pink, yellow, orange, red, white and violet colors filled the villages and open spaces in the past months and are expected to remain until before the onset of rainy season. These came from the close to 50,000 trees and palms planted by PRO-FRIENDS employees, homeowners, agents, and other business partners. “Toward the end of summer, we work with our Galing LNC volunteers to educate more homeowners on the value of and care for trees,” shares Mike Asinas, head of PRO-FRIENDS’ Landscape team. “As soon as the rains start coming, we start planting. The season is a great assurance for us that the saplings will thrive,” he adds.

PRO-FRIENDS and St. Edward School Celebrate A Decade of Active Partnership in Educating the Youth

In its 23 years of creating communities, Property Company of Friends, Inc. (PRO-FRIENDS) has, through the years, continuously improved and innovated on the design of its projects. In 2007, PRO-FRIENDS built its flagship project, Lancaster New City Cavite, with the vision of a complete community that enjoys the live, learn, work, play, and pray lifestyle.

The birth of St. Edward School (SES) in 2012 turned the “learn” factor into flesh, allowing quality education within the families’ reach. “You would all agree with me that education is a treasure that secures the future generation. As parents, it is our greatest ‘pamana’ to our children,” said PRO-FRIENDS Chairman Guillermo Choa during the school’s inauguration program.

A lovely day to share blessings

After partnering with our sales networks, we were joined by Lancaster New City homeowners, St. Edward School (SES) teachers, and SES students. This time, we visited Bahay Pag-Asa Juvenile Justice and Welfare Center in Paranaque City and Ma-Ma's Hope Heaven of Norway in General Trias. Our volunteers were able to raise funds to cook healthy meals for the 70 children and social workers in the juvenile center while our colleagues donated toiletries for the elderly as well as some cash to support the operating expenses of both homes. With the help of our Information Technology Group, we were also able to refurbish five computers for the use of the residents of Mama's Hope Heaven of Norway.

It was a great day to share blessings even as our volunteers felt emotional when they said their goodbyes to the residents of the two homes. Apart from the hands-on preparation of the meals served, the students of SES also put hard-written messages of encouragement in each of the packed meals given to children of the juvenile center. It was an eye-opening experience for the students, seeing kids their age in the center. They realized the least they can do is continue sharing their blessings to the less fortunate.
