In a heartwarming display of collaboration and teamwork, the GalingPinas movement, led by the dedicated youth volunteers, recently held the AlabFest I Act On Community Fun Run. Aiming to raise funds for the GalingPinas Youth4Youth Grant, the event was able to engage over 1,500 runners and volunteers combined, composed of families, friends, Profriends employees, village volunteers, and run enthusiasts from neighbouring towns.

Held at Lancaster New City, the community-led fun run featured a 1K family-friendly run distance, 3K, 5K, and a 10K-distance run. Participants not only enjoyed the physical fitness and the community spirit it brought to everyone, but even more delighted to support various causes that will directly benefit the younger generation.

The community-led fun run was able to raise a generous amount, exceeding its goal, “Through the unwavering support of our participants, business units, and generous sponsors, the Youth for Youth grant raised a total of ₱393,194.00 with a potential impact number of 55,000 lives within Lancaster New City and its nearby community-partners,” testified Erika Clavido, Culture Development Head. Proceeds from the event will be granted to GalingPinas Youth4Youth Grant which will fund youth-led community development programs. These efforts emphasize the role of the youth in leading their villages/localities not only for the youth themselves, but for the whole community. Some programs that will benefit from the grant are youth groups in Lancaster New City, Micara Estates – Tanza, and Minami Residences, select public schools, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK). Some of the proceeds will be allocated to the annual GalingPinas Youth Leadership Congress. Benefiting as well are the Youth Care Programs which cover disaster relief operations, Brigada Eskwela, sports clinic, and other outreach activities. “This year's Alab Fest is the first fun run and the highest attendance post pandemic, since we reactivated in 2022,” noted Clavido.

With strong community support and the dedication of the youth, this first ever AlabFest I Act On community-led fun run proved to be more than just a race — it was a step forward in building a brighter future for our Kapitbuhays in various communities.
