Phase 1 of The LRT 1 Cavite Extension To Open on November 16, 2024
The Department of Transportation recently announced that Phase 1 of the Cavite Extension of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) 1 is set to become operational on Saturday, November 16, 2024. This development will benefit commuters from south of Metro Manila as the facility extends its services from Pasay to Paranaque. The additional six kilometers connecting from LRT 1’s Baclaran station will include five additional stops: Redemptorist – Aseana Station, MIA Road Station, Asia World (PITX) Station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station, and Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat) Station.
Lancaster New City Benefits From Phase 1 Opening
While the LRT 1 Cavite Extension is expected to be completed in 2031, the segment opening will already benefit commuters from Lancaster New City who are going to Metro Manila. The Transport Hub in Lancaster offers a direct bus route to PITX. From PITX, where the Asia World Station of the LRT 1 extension can be found, commuters may now save time by using train-to-train transfer to get to their destination going north, west, or east of Metro Manila. The opening of LRT 1’s Asia World (PITX) station will now connect to MRT 3’s Taft Avenue Station, which is accessible going to Makati and the northern part of Quezon City. MRT 3 also connects to LRT 2 in Cubao Station, if one is planning to go to east of Metro Manila like Marikina, Pasig & Antipolo, Rizal. LRT 1 traverses Manila proper up to Fernando Poe Jr. Station, just a few hundred meters away from the North Avenue station of MRT 3.
